My "Flowering"
In the next developmental stage of a flower transitioning from seedling and vegetative growth into flowering, the plant massively grows in height before a flower opens up to display its petals. The stage of flowering does not happen overnight - it takes time and effort to provide the plant the best of care so that the plant can gradually bloom into full flower mode. Once ready, the pollination process occurs where the pollen produced by the flower will be carried away by the wind to another flower, ensuring the plant reproduction.
The most recent stage of my leadership journey shares significant similarities with the “Flowering” stage of a plant. Accumulating diverse elements of leadership within former roles in the two previous stages, I decided to step up and directly confront one of my persistent challenges: the challenge of manoeuvring the flow of an event, showcasing my confidence when staying in the crowd, taking control of the suspense, and taking advantage of the unexpectedness in public speaking. During this leadership phase, I was also able to challenge my discipline-specific knowledge and skills in Occupational Therapy to apply for a new role in two healthcare companies in which I had an opportunity to use my leadership and make a difference in the lives of two most vulnerable population groups.
Similar to a flower in the “Flowering” stage showcasing its own magnificent beauty and fragrance after a long waiting period, my leadership development at this stage correlated with my ability and opportunity to maximise my full potential as a Master of Ceremonies and an Allied Health Assistant where my most positive characteristics of a leader were combined to help me pursue my ultimate goals: to ensure that my influence in the community is extended to the fullest so that I can help as many individuals as possible. As the pollen produced by the flower can be spread to enable the next cycle of plant fertilisation, I hope that my visions have shared similar power to be disseminated and inspire others to pay it forward by continuing the good deeds for our community.
